The College of Health Sciences of the Obafemi Awo-lowo University (OAU), on Thursday, inducted 171 medical doctors and 30 dentists at its 31st induction ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, held at the Amphitheatre of the institution, which also coincided with the 40th anniversary of the college, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bamitale Omole, urged the new inductees to be useful to the society, while he also tasked them not to forget their alma mater.
Charging the new doctors to be more resolute to face any task before them, the Chief Medical Director of the OAU Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Professor O. Adejuyigbe, said though they are now at the summit of their profession, having studied and graduated as medical doctors, they would still face more mountains which, he said, were surmountable.
He lamented that their duration of study was elongated due to circumstances beyond the control of the school authorities.
The provost of the college, Professor S. O. Ogunniyi, before administering the oath on the new inductees, regretted that one of the graduating students died two weeks ago, while he called for a minute silence in honour of the deceased.
