The Immigration in Malaysia have been asked to release a Nigerian Post Graduate student in Malaysia, Oluwajuwonlo Toba-Temitope arrested last Sunday over immigrations issues.
Oluwajuwonlo Toba-Temitope, a graduate of University of Ballarat, Malaysia campus was arrested at his residence in Kuala Selangor by cops who asked about his present visa status.
He recently submitted his application to renew his Visa after he was granted admission to University of East London, Malaysia campus for his Masters degree in Business Information System.
His brother, David Toba- Temitope, a student in United States said that he has not heard from Oluwajuwonlo since his arrest.
He called on the Nigerian embassy in Malaysia to intervene in the matter to ensure the release of his brother who he said has valid papers to be in the country.
“On Saturday at exactly 2:53pm, my immediate younger brother sent me a message on my Blackberry messenger saying the Cops in Malaysia just busted into his apartment (his exact word). I replied by asking him why? He said it’s the immigration, they said he has to come with them to know his present visa status and he told me he should not have any problem with them since he just submitted his application to renew his Visa after he was granted admission to University of East London, Malaysia campus for his Masters degree in Business Information System.
“Few minutes later he sent me another message saying the cops are putting him in their custody, because that day on Sunday over there in Malaysia is not a working and that, there would be a public holiday on Monday, that latest by Tuesday he would be free. Till this date (three days now)i am yet to hear from my brother. All my effort to reach the Nigeria Ambassador to Malaysia has not been fruitful.
“A citizen of the country named Jenny Fe Buagas [ A Malaysian] who happens to be his neighbor sent me a message to know if I was Oluwajuwonlo Toba-Temitope’s elder brother and I replied to her mail by saying [YES]. She went further to explain to me in the response she sent to my mail, that the Cops came to his apartment very early on Sunday morning and it was my brother and his room-mate Mark Ojomah that they pick-up.
“She explained further that the Cops were just going to check their status and leave but when the neighbors came out of their respective apartments and ask the Cops to let them go, that was when they [Cops] decided to arrest them and take them to their custody…….”
