The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria has opposed the planned negotiations between the Federal Government and violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, saying the group should rather be treated as terrorists.
The northern Regional Overseer of the church, Rev. Isaac Komolafe, said this while briefing newsmen in Abuja on Friday about the preparations for the Kingdom Convention 2012 scheduled to hold between Nov.12 and 18, 2012.
Komolafe stated that the sect was opposed to development and progress, noting that it lacked the moral right to seek for negotiations after killing and maiming thousands and destroying property.
The cleric explained that the church was not cowed by the violent attacks against it, stressing that the meekness of the church was not a sign of weakness, but strength under control. According to him, the church has the mandate to save souls and take them to heaven, not to destroy lives and livelihood.
Komolafe stated that the convention, with the theme, ‘The fullness of Christ’, would hold at the Foursquare Camp, Ajebo, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and would be an avenue to minister to the needs of the people.
